Cabinets are a precision trade, and we came to it from trim work where a sixteenth of an inch shows.

What we do / 01—05

Five services,
one crew

01

Refaced white cabinet doors and drawer fronts

01

Cabinet Refacing

New doors, drawer fronts, matched veneer, and soft-close hardware without tearing out the kitchen. The existing boxes are cleaned, leveled, and re-hung so the reveals stay even, and finishes are matched to the counters and floor already in the room. Most kitchens are done in five to seven days and stay usable throughout.

02

New Kitchen Cabinets

Supplied and installed, from dependable stock lines to custom wood cabinetry. We measure the room ourselves, lay out the runs around the appliances and plumbing, and order once the drawings are approved. Doors, drawer boxes, and hardware are specified at the same time, so nothing holds up the install.

03

Custom Closets

Walk-in and reach-in systems laid out around what you actually own. Hanging heights, shelf spacing, drawer banks, and shoe storage are set to your wardrobe rather than to a catalog module, then built and finished on site.

04

Custom Cabinets & Built-Ins

Vanities, living-room built-ins, pantry, home office, and garage storage. Built to the dimensions of the wall it lands on, scribed to the floor and ceiling, and finished to match the trim already in the house.

05

Finish Carpentry

Crown molding, baseboards, and door casing. Where we started in 2005. Long runs are coped rather than mitered at the corners, so the joints stay closed as the house moves. Every profile is cut and finished on site.

Before & after

The same kitchen, in about a week

Refacing keeps the boxes and the plumbing where they are. New doors, drawer fronts, matched veneer on the frames, and soft-close hardware. No demolition and no kitchen out of service for a month. We template the existing openings first, so the new doors sit on the same hinges and the reveals stay even across every run. Door styles, finishes, and hardware are chosen against the counters and floor already in the room, and the crew works one section at a time so the sink and range stay usable while the job is underway.

Our mission

Build the woodwork like it is going in our own house

Balance Construction stayed small on purpose. One owner, one crew, and a schedule short enough that Walter can be on every job from the measurement to the walk-through. That is the whole business model, and it is why the details hold up years later.

We take the work we can do well and turn down the work we cannot. If your project is outside what we are set up for, we will say so and point you somewhere better.

01 / The company

A licensed building contractor in Cape Coral

Balance Construction is a Florida licensed building contractor, CBC1253747, based in Cape Coral and working throughout Lee County and Charlotte County. Walter Martinez started the company in 2005 doing finish carpentry, and cabinetry grew out of that trim work. He still runs the estimates and works on the installations, so the person who quotes your kitchen is the person fitting the doors.

Cabinet refacing versus new cabinets

Refacing is the right call when the cabinet boxes are sound and the layout works. We replace the doors and drawer fronts, apply matched veneer to the face frames, and fit new soft-close hardware. The plumbing stays put, there is no demolition, and the kitchen is usually back in service in about a week.

When the boxes are failing, the layout needs to change, or you want a different footprint, new cabinets are the better investment. We supply and install both, from dependable stock lines through custom wood cabinetry.

03 / Trim

Finish carpentry, where we started

Crown molding, baseboards, door casing, and window trim are still a large part of what we do. Trim is unforgiving work, since a sixteenth of an inch shows on a long run against an uneven wall. That habit of scribing and fitting carries into every cabinet we hang.

Custom closets and built-in storage

Closet systems are drawn around what you actually own: hanging lengths, shelving, drawers, and shoe storage in the proportions that match your wardrobe. The same approach applies to pantries, home offices, garage storage, living-room built-ins, and bathroom vanities. Everything is measured in the field and installed by our own crew.

What a project looks like

It starts with a free consultation at your home. Walter looks at the space, talks through the options, and tells you plainly what the work involves. From there we take field measurements, help you select doors, finishes, and hardware, and schedule the install. When the work is done we walk the job together and adjust anything that is not sitting right.
