Our Cabinet and Carpentry Services
Balance Construction offers five cabinet and carpentry services to homeowners across Lee and Charlotte counties, and all five come out of the same finish-carpentry background. Two are about the kitchen: refacing the cabinets you have, or installing new ones. The rest cover custom cabinetry in other rooms, closet systems, and the trim work they all grew out of. Here’s what each one covers and how to figure out which one your project actually needs. One standard runs through all of them: a cabinet that looks good on delivery day should still look good five summers later.

Cabinet Refacing
Keep your existing cabinet boxes and replace everything you see and touch: doors, drawer fronts, veneer on the boxes and end panels, hinges, glides, and hardware. Refacing is the right call when the boxes are square and solid and the kitchen layout already works. It’s also the fastest path to a new-looking kitchen. Read more on cabinet refacing.
New Kitchen Cabinets
Replace the cabinets entirely. We supply stock, semi-custom, or custom wood cabinet lines and install them ourselves, including new layouts, taller uppers, pantry runs, and islands. This is the answer when boxes are water-damaged or particleboard has swelled, or when you want the kitchen laid out differently. Read more on new kitchen cabinets.
Custom Cabinets and Built-Ins
Cabinetry for the rest of the house: bathroom vanities, living-room and media built-ins, pantry cabinets, home-office storage, laundry rooms, and garage cabinets. Planned for the wall it’s going on, supplied to spec, and installed by us. Read more on custom cabinets and built-ins.
Custom Closets
Walk-in and reach-in closet systems with adjustable shelving, drawers, double-hang and long-hang sections, and finishes that hold up in Florida humidity. We design the layout around what you own, not a catalog template. Read more on custom closets.
Finish Carpentry
Crown molding, baseboards, window and door casing, and the trim that ties cabinetry into a room. This is the trade Walter started in back in 2005, and it’s the reason our cabinet installs look built-in rather than dropped-in. Read more on finish carpentry.
Refacing or New Cabinets?
Homeowners ask us this more than anything else, so here’s how we think about it:
- Reface when the boxes are solid plywood or sound particleboard, the layout works, and you mainly want a new look and better hardware.
- Replace when boxes are swollen from a leak, shelves are sagging, the layout is wrong for how you cook, or you’re adding an island or pantry that the old run can’t support.
- Not sure? That’s normal. The in-home visit exists to answer this question. We’ll open a few doors, check the boxes, and tell you which option we’d choose in our own house.
What Every Project Includes
Whichever service you choose, the process is the same. Walter comes to the house, measures, and looks at what’s there before anything is priced. You get a written scope that names the door style or components, what’s included, and a schedule expectation. The people who measure are the people who install, and they protect floors and counters, keep the house livable, and walk the finished work with you before they leave. Materials are chosen for Florida humidity, from veneers and hinges to closet finishes. Homeowners who’ve had us back for a second project tend to mention the same two things: the work is precise, and the phone gets answered.
